Facilities Can Have a PACS Solution Without the Capital Investme Cleveland-based NCD Medical Corp now offers a new alternative for healthcare facilities seeking a low-cost method for automating and acquiring a PACS and document-management solution.

The company's Web-based mini-PACS, called e-WIX, is an outsourced service that makes it possible for organizations to store, manage, and access DICOM data without making a capital investment.

Easily deployed, the e-WIX provides rapid access to the facility's DICOM information from any computer with Internet access. The service offers clinicians the option of either viewing DICOM data lossy using a browser-based viewer, or to download lossless data to a workstation for viewing with a standard DICOM viewer.

In addition to storing readily accessible images on a gateway/storage server, NCD provides off-site archiving services. Once installed, NCD's most recent service can cost as little as $.75 per study per year-if not less.

Additional, complementary solutions offered by NCD include document scanning and hosting services, secured hardcopy storage, and archive and access of X-ray film and/or paper records.
